History of DIET, Jajpur

  • This institute come into existence in 1959 as Elementary Training School
  • It was upgraded to secondary Training School in 1969.
  • Then upgraded to District institute of Education and Training (DIET) in 1989 as per the recommendation of NPE 1986.
  • Broad aim to achieve quality education at elementary level through training, orientation, resource support etc.
  • Coverage area- This DIET covers the Revenue District of Jajpur having 10 blocks.
  • Populations-1826275, Area-2899 sq. km
  • Own building-This DIET building is situated on plot No. 2,3,4,5 & 6 of khata no. 249 having acre 05.o5 dec(20438 sq mtr.) area of Naguan revenue village, vyasanagar Tahasil of Jajpur district.
  • Location-This DIET is situated at a distance of 5kms from Jajpur-Keonjhar railway station/Bus stand by the side of NH 215 which runs from Panikoili and it is 103 kms away from state capital Bhubaneswar.

  • To improve the quality of Education at Elementary level in the district.
  • To make DIET a learning hub, empower teachers, and prepare students for the 21st century.
  • To provide academic support to teachers and ensure community involvement in schools.
  • To create community awareness in the locality regarding various innovations.
  • To make good use of Technology in the field of elementary education.
  • To conduct assessment for tracking the learning level of the learners; and thereby providing continuous feedback for enhancing the achievement level of the learners.

Mission

  • To provide academic and resource support to the educational institutions at elementary level.
  • To provide both pre-service and in-service training programmes for teachers, including professional development and leadership development.
  • To develop local specific and relevant learning and teaching materials for schools.
  • To conduct research studies and projects in the field of Elementary education.
  • To monitor the schools and provide onsite pedagogical support to the teachers.
  • To organize need based trainings for teachers and CRCCs.
  • To undertake assessments, Action-researches, case-studies, research projects, school visits and to publish newsletters.
