DIET Jajpur is one among the 30 DIETs under the guidance of Directorate of TE & SCERT, Odisha, Bhubaneswar which caters the educational needs of Jajpur District for enhancing the qualitative improvements in elementary education. This institute came into existence in 1959 as Elementary Training School to cater the needs in providing training to elementary teachers. Later on, it was upgraded to Secondary Training School in the year 1969. Further, the Secondary Training School was upgraded to DIET in the year 1989 following/in accordance with the recommendations of NEP 1986.
First of all, I extend my sincere gratitude to almighty God, being the Principal of this noble institute. As we know, education is a complete living and it brings fullness of human life. Quality of education depends upon quality of teaching and quality teaching is the cause of learning. A good teacher lives and breathes with the spirit of adventure and creativity. As per the NEP 2020, teacher is the most respected person of the society and powerful agent to make the career of the students for providing right direction to choose the particular discipline as per the need, interest and aspiration. District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Jajpur at Dolipur is one of the leading teacher training institutes of the state, functioning under Directorate of Teacher Education and SCERT, Odisha, Bhubaneswar of School and Mass Education, Govt. of Odisha since 1959. The five most respective Departments like (1).Pre-Service Teacher Education (2).Teacher Professional Development (3).Educational Technology and Material Development (4).Field Interaction and Action research (5.) Assessment and Evaluation have been functioning in this Teacher Training Institute. Considering the importance of elementary teacher education, it plays a significant role for providing Pre- Service Teacher Training and In-Service Teacher Training to make elementary education qualitative. According to APJ Kalam –“Teaching is a noble profession that shapes the character, Caliber and future of an individual.” Moreover, a good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination and instill the love of learning. It serves as a nodal agency of Teacher Training Institute for promoting quality teaching as well fostering conducive learning environment. It offers Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) for Pre-Service Teachers to make them physically fit, mentally alert, morally up right, ethically sound, emotionally stable, culturally refined, socially efficient , spiritually enlightened , vocationally self-sufficient ,technologically up-to-date and internationally liberal. Monitoring and mentoring is most important part of this institute for proving pedagogical input and on-sight support to the teachers during classroom transaction. It offers numerous workshop, training and orientation programme for In Service- teachers , CRCCs ,ABEOs ,BEOs, DRGs and all
stakeholders of the District for preparation of E- Content , Development of Teaching Learning Materials, conducting Institutional and Action Research and Preparation of Assessment Tools , Preparation training module ,conducting Surveys for making them professionally sound in order to bring quality education . I wish all success in their endeavor in the field of teacher education, and let us work together to make this institute as vibrant learning community for progress and prosperity of the nation.
